Chapter 13 The Truth
Chapter 13 The Truth
Lin Yu bought Anna two new outfits. Although they were cheap, at least they were clean and fit well.
I bought a new pair of shoes, some daily necessities, and some meat and vegetables.
Back home, Anna hugged her new clothes, her face beaming with an irrepressible smile.
"Go change," Lin Yu said.
Anna ran into the second bedroom, closed the door, and a few minutes later, the door opened.
She was wearing a newly bought white T-shirt and a dark blue skirt, with white stockings on her legs and canvas shoes on her feet.
Her hair was also combed again and tied into a neat ponytail.
Although she is still very thin, she looks much more energetic.
"Does it look good?" Anna twirled around and asked shyly.
"It looks good." Lin Yu nodded.
Anna smiled and said, "I'm glad Master likes it."
After saying that, she ran into the kitchen and began preparing dinner.
Lin Yu sat on the sofa, listening to the sounds of chopping vegetables, running water, and Anna occasionally humming off-key tunes coming from the kitchen.
Very strange.
But this unfamiliarity is not unpleasant.
Dinner was simple: rice, stir-fried vegetables, and a small dish of canned meat.
Anna did her best, and the two sat on either side of the folding table, eating quietly.
"Master," Anna suddenly spoke.
"Um?"
"Thank you."
Lin Yu paused in his act of picking up food: "What are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for saving me, thank you for taking me home, thank you for buying me clothes..."
Anna lowered her head and poked at the rice in her bowl with her chopsticks: "I haven't eaten this much in a long time... a very long time."
Her voice was very soft, but Lin Yu heard it clearly.
Lin Yu didn't say anything, but simply put another piece of meat into her bowl: "Eat more."
Anna looked up, her eyes red, but she didn't cry.
She nodded vigorously and ate her food in large mouthfuls.
"There's no need to rush." Lin Yu patted Anna's head.
Just then, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
It was a message from Su Wan:
"Lin Yu, you're amazing! Chen Tianxiong really didn't have time to care about me."
I've prepared some food, are you coming over in a bit?
Lin Yu replied, "Okay."
"Okay, I'll wait for you."
Lin Yu put away his phone and looked at Anna in front of him, wondering whether he should take her to Su Wan's place.
After thinking about it, I decided against it and just let her stay at home.
......
Before going to Su Wan's place, Lin Yu waited until Anna had finished showering and was lying in bed before preparing to leave.
Lin Yu sat on the edge of the bed and leaned down to kiss Anna on the forehead.
"Go to sleep, I have something to do and need to go out."
Anna lay still, staring at the ceiling for a while:
"I'm all clean, Master..." Anna's voice was very soft.
Lin Yu turned to look at her, but Anna was still staring at the ceiling.
Lin Yu reached out and gently pinched the tip of her nose: "You're too thin. You need to eat more and gain weight."
Anna nodded: "I will try my best."
After she finished speaking, she suddenly reached out and hugged Lin Yu's neck with considerable force, showing a reckless attitude.
Lin Yu was pulled forward slightly by her.
Anna tilted her head back, closed her eyes, and quickly pressed her lips to Lin Yu's.
It felt rough and cold to the touch, with a slight tremor.
However, it didn't last long. Anna immediately let go, turned over, and curled up in the blankets with her back to Lin Yu.
"I...I'm going to sleep!" Her voice came from under the covers, feigning composure.
"Go ahead and get busy... Be careful on your way."
Lin Yu remained in the slightly forward-leaning position after being hugged, looking at the small mound of blankets on the bed, before slowly standing up a few seconds later.
He walked to the door and grasped the doorknob:
"The door is locked, and I have the key."
With a soft "click," the door closed.
The footsteps gradually faded into the distance until they could no longer be heard.
......
When Lin Yu left home, it was already completely dark.
However, he didn't rush to Su Wan's place. Instead, he walked back along a quiet alley, his steps unhurried, but his mind was racing.
Lin Yu couldn't shake the feeling that Old Chen's words at the textile factory today were anything but right.
When you look at it, does it seem...familiar? Considering everything that happened before, Lin Yu felt that Old Chen was trying to get him to say something.
Another example is Li Feng's reaction when he was promoted.
That red, warm look of grievance.
I'm afraid my brother will suffer, but I'm also afraid he'll drive a Land Rover.
That's obviously not the reason.
Not right.
Everything is wrong.
Lin Yu walked toward the police station while pondering.
The building was empty; most people had gone home, and only a few guard rooms had their lights on.
Lin Yu walked to the third-floor reconnaissance team office and pushed the door open.
no one.
Li Feng's workstation is by the window, with a mess of documents piled on the table and a half-finished cup of coffee.
Without hesitation, Lin Yu flipped through the documents page by page.
Finally, a printed report was found in the crevices of a book.
The title is:
Daily Behavior Record of Observation Subject Lin Yu
Lin Yu's hand stiffened for a moment.
He quickly turned the page.

Date: October 5th (today)
Record summary: Arrived on time at 8:30...
During the morning meeting, the subject appeared calm, but micro-expression analysis showed that their attention was highly focused.
Especially during Deputy Director Shen Bing's speech...
Also... the target was promoted to Agent Two today...

The last page of the report was not printed; it contained a handwritten line of text, the handwriting messy, like a jotting-down note:
"Damn it, I'm always playing the role of a helpful colleague, my face is so stiff from smiling."
When will this criminal finally slip up? He even got promoted! Why?!
Lin Yu stared at that line of text—
"Wait, what the hell?! I'm a criminal?! I'm the one who intercepted Chen Tianxiong's goods?!!"
At that moment, Lin Yu even doubted whether there was something wrong with his eyes.
After flipping through the paper repeatedly, Lin Yu finally became certain of his identity.
Lin Yu slowly leaned back in his chair, feeling all the blood rushing to his head.
He is not a police officer.
He is a criminal.
It is the object of observation, surveillance, and research.
Old Chen, Li Feng, Shen Bing... everyone was acting, just to get the clues he wanted out of him about the location of the goods.
But Lin Yu was certain that he remembered nothing.
"However... if that anchor fragment was left on purpose, what should I have wanted to tell me before I lost my memory?"
Lin Yu took out the evidence bag and took out the anchor fragment without hesitation, then connected it with the 1/4 he bought from Anna.
With a click, a semicircle was indeed formed.
Once it's complete, everything will become clear.
Lin Yu closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
When he opened his eyes again, all the shock, confusion, and anger in them had been suppressed.
All that remains is a cold, clear-headed state.
well.
very good.
Since you're acting, I'll act too.
Lin Yu stuffed the report back into the book as it was, stood up, straightened his collar, and walked out of the office.
