Chapter 283 All Friends
Chapter 283 All Friends
Xia Rou and Lin Yue carried the plates away.
The two men walked side by side, their figures in camouflage disappearing at the cafeteria entrance.
As Lin Yue left, she glanced back at Song Huan, her gaze sweeping over her briefly before returning to her own.
Zhang Yang kept his neck outstretched until the two figures were completely out of sight before pulling it back.
He slammed his chopsticks on the table, lowering his voice but unable to suppress his excitement, "Song Huan, tell me honestly, what exactly is your relationship with that Lin Yue?"
Liu Yu leaned closer, adjusted his glasses, and said, "Right, a junior high classmate? Is it that simple?"
Song Huan picked up a piece of braised pork, stuffed it into her mouth, chewed it, and said, "What else?"
Zhang Yang didn't believe it. "A junior high classmate, would she really come all the way over to say hello to you? A junior high classmate, would she look at you like that?"
Song Huan put down her chopsticks. "Which one?"
Zhang Yang paused for a moment, carefully choosing his words, "It's...it's that kind of..."
"With tender affection," Liu Yu added from the side.
Zhang Yang slammed his hand on the table. "Yes! Full of affection!"
Looking at the two gossipy faces in front of her, Song Huan leaned back in her chair and said in a nonchalant tone, "You're overthinking it. She sees everyone that way."
Before Zhang Yang could say anything more, Shen Yan spoke up from the side, his voice slow and deliberate, yet tinged with resentment.
"I just observed that Lin Yue glanced at Song Huan ten times from the time she sat down until she left. She glanced at Zhang Yang zero times, Liu Yu zero times, and me zero times. To be honest, I never thought I would be ignored in my life."
Zhang Yang and Liu Yu both turned to look at Shen Yan at the same time, startled.
This handsome guy was completely ignored?
Shen Yan held the cup, took a sip of water, and looked calm on the surface, but was actually very frustrated.
Zhang Yang turned back, staring at Song Huan. "Did you hear that? I'll look at you ten times, what else do you have to say?"
Song Huan shrugged. "If she wants to watch, can I stop her?"
Liu Yu pushed up his glasses. "So, do you have feelings for her?"
Without even thinking, Song Huan replied, "No."
"real?"
"real."
Zhang Yang stared at him for several seconds, then leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms, and said, "Song Huan, have you thought this through? I have something on you now."
Song Huan raised an eyebrow. "What leverage?"
"You kissed that girl from Tokyo University yesterday."
Zhang Yang's voice was low, but he emphasized each word, "You were being ambiguous with Lin Yue again today. You're two-timing her!"
Liu Yu nodded vigorously beside him, "Yes! Scumbag behavior."
Zhang Yang got more and more excited as he spoke, "If I tell that girl from Dongda University about this, guess what she'll do? She'll definitely break up with you, and then you'll end up with nothing."
Song Huan looked at him, her face expressionless, and said, "Go ahead."
Zhang Yang was stunned for a moment.
"Anyway, that's a friend," Song Huan said with a shrug.
"What about Lin Yue?" Zhang Yang pressed.
"Then they must be friends."
Song Huan spoke as if it were a matter of course, as if she were saying something perfectly natural.
Zhang Yang opened his mouth, but couldn't say a word.
"You..." Zhang Yang's voice trembled, "You're just relying on yourself..."
He didn't finish speaking.
Song Huan had already picked up the plate and stood up. "Let's go, go back to sleep. We have training this afternoon."
He carried the plate towards the recycling area, his pace neither fast nor slow.
Zhang Yang watched his retreating figure, gritting his teeth, "That damn scumbag."
Liu Yu pushed up his glasses. "Exactly."
"When we have girlfriends in the future, we can't end up like him!"
"Exactly, but when will we get girlfriends?" Liu Yu scratched his head.
Zhang Yang glared at him.
Liu Yu shut his mouth.
It was 2 PM, and the sun was blazing.
The playground was sweltering; you could feel the rubber track softening under the sun even through your shoes.
Several squads stood at attention under the scorching sun, their camouflage uniforms soaked with sweat.
Instructor Chen stood at the front of the group, his hands behind his back, his gaze sweeping across each person's face like a knife.
"Everyone stay still! Anyone who moves will get an extra 5 minutes for the whole class!"
Whoever Instructor Chen walked in front of would tense up.
Lin Yue stood in the third row of the girls' line.
He wasn't standing at attention perfectly, and sweat was beading on his forehead. Stray hairs were sticking to the sides of his face, but his eyes were bright.
Instructor Chen turned around to correct the posture of the boys in the front row, with his back to the group.
Lin Yue's lips moved slightly, and a voice escaped from the corner of her mouth, kept very low, so that only the person next to her could hear it, "The sun is so strong, I feel like a fish on a grill."
The girl next to him couldn't help but tremble.
Lin Yue winked at the other side and made a face.
But soon his brows furrowed and his lips pouted, like a kitten wilted by the sun.
The girls around them were biting their lips, trying their best to hold back their laughter.
Instructor Chen turned around and glanced over.
Lin Yue's expression had returned to normal; she was looking straight ahead, her lips pursed, and her face serious.
Instructor Chen glanced at her and walked past.
Xia Rou whispered to herself, "How come you're not tired at all?"
Lin Yue didn't move, her voice escaping from the corner of her mouth, "I'm tired, but whether I look sad or smile, it's still a day, so I choose to smile."
Her forehead was covered in sweat, and her lips were actually a little pale.
But she was still standing there, her back straight, her eyes filled with a defiant spirit.
From morning until now, she is the only girl in the entire formation who has never complained of being tired.
Instructor Chen blew his whistle, "Ten-minute break."
The team fell apart instantly.
Some people squatted down, some sat on the ground, and some rushed to the shade of the trees to pour water.
Lin Yue stood still, stretched her ankles, and bent over to massage her calves.
When I straightened up again, the scene in front of me blurred.
The playground, the crowd, and the distant school buildings looked as if they were submerged in water, swaying for a moment before settling back down.
She blinked, not taking it seriously.
The whistle blew again.
The line was rearranged.
Instructor Chen stood at the front and said, "You're going to stand at attention for thirty minutes. If anyone moves, the whole class will have to add five minutes."
A low groan rose from the ranks.
Lin Yue stood ramrod straight, looking straight ahead.
The sun was blazing overhead, and the stray hairs under the brim of my hat were already soaked with sweat and stuck to my forehead.
Her lips turned even paler, but she gritted her teeth and remained silent.
Ten minutes have passed.
Fifteen minutes.
The scene before my eyes began to sway again.
This time it shook even more violently than before. The white lines on the playground twisted like waves, and the back of the person in front of them appeared as two separate heads.
She blinked hard, her two backs of her head merging into one, then separating again.
It felt like my ears were stuffed with cotton; Instructor Chen's voice seemed to fade into the distance, just a buzzing sound.
She knew she was about to give up, but she kept waiting.
Just then, a figure finally appeared in her peripheral vision.
He walked over from the other side of the playground, carrying a bag containing several bottles of water.
The sunlight shone on his face, casting a long shadow under the brim of his hat.
This is the moment she's been waiting for.
Suddenly everything went black.
My ears were ringing, and all the sounds from the playground seemed to fade into the distance.
Her body swayed and she fell to the side.
The girl next to her gasped and reached out to pull him back, but she couldn't.
Song Huan happened to walk to the side of the line at that moment.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a shadow falling. His body reacted faster than his mind; he took a step forward, reached out, and steadily caught it.
Her body was very light; leaning against his hand, she was like a leaf blown away by the wind.
Song Huan's calm voice followed immediately.
"Hold on tight."
