Chapter 56 The Gods Tremble! A Deadly Plan to Eliminate That Man!
Chapter 56 The Gods Tremble! A Deadly Plan to Eliminate That Man!
The Mediterranean Sea, Mount Olympus.
Inside the Golden Temple, the air was so heavy it could break your spine.
Zeus, the king of the gods, sat on his throne, his face clouded with gloom.
The thunder scepter in his hand crackled with electricity out of control, each arc leaving grotesque scorch marks on the polished marble floor.
Below, Hera, the queen of the gods, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, Poseidon, the god of the sea... all the Olympian gods stood with their heads bowed, deliberately suppressing their breathing.
No one dared to look up.
Just now, the Divine Water Mirror faithfully reflected a scene in the distant East.
That was a sight that could bring shame upon the entire pantheon.
Their god of war, Ares.
Their twelve strongest Gold Saints.
This power is enough to flatten any country on earth.
But it was defeated by the owner of that oriental courtyard.
Such a complete and humiliating defeat.
First, a pig's trotter blocked the God of War's full-force attack.
With another finger, he flicked away two Gold Saints.
Finally, the ultimate technique, "Athena's Exclamation," which was said to be comparable to the creation of the universe, was swallowed whole by the other party as nourishment.
Throughout the entire ordeal, the man never even stepped out of his own courtyard.
That carefree attitude, that indifference, that disregard for the gods as mere dust, deeply stung the pride of every deity present.
"shame!"
"This is the greatest disgrace since the birth of Olympus!"
Zeus slammed his hand on the throne, and the raging thunderbolts instantly transformed into silver serpents, sweeping across the entire temple.
"A mere mortal! Just a mortal!"
"He actually imprisoned our God of War! He imprisoned our strongest warrior!"
"What did he take them for? Pets? Or watchdogs?!"
Zeus's roar exploded in the ears of every god, shaking their very souls.
"Father God, please calm your anger."
Athena, the goddess of wisdom, stepped forward; her face was equally pale.
Those twelve Gold Saints were her protectors, but now they were in a foreign land, their fate unknown. Her heart was breaking.
But she knew even better that anger wouldn't solve anything.
"Father God, that man from the East, he... is no ordinary man."
Athena's voice carried an unyielding bitterness.
"His power is beyond our comprehension; the courtyard where he resides, and even the entire city, have been transformed into his 'divine kingdom'."
"In one's own divine kingdom, God is the rule."
"We should never have set foot there in the first place."
"Shut up!" Zeus roared, interrupting her. "Athena! Are you making excuses for defeat? Are you boosting others' morale while diminishing your own?"
"We, Olympus, have ruled the world for thousands of years! When did it become the turn of an Eastern barbarian to stand on our heads!"
"I don't care what he is!"
"He must pay the price!"
Zeus rose from his throne, his imposing figure casting a huge shadow, his aura overwhelming the entire area.
"Poseidon!"
"Yes, elder brother."
Poseidon, the sea god wielding a trident, stepped forward in response.
"I command you to unleash a flood immediately! I will turn that eastern land into a vast ocean!"
"I want that arrogant fool to watch his city and his followers be swallowed by the flood!"
"I want him to kneel before me and repent for his arrogance!"
Zeus's voice was filled with cruelty and madness.
This is an open conspiracy.
Aren't you supposed to protect that land?
I'll destroy it!
Let's see how many people you can protect!
However, Poseidon, the god of the sea, trembled slightly in the face of the king of the gods' command.
"Brother..."
"That land is protected by the Dragon God of the East. If we forcibly incite the flood, it will inevitably trigger a full-scale war between the pantheons."
He paused, lowering his voice even further, filled with a fear that seemed to emanate from his very soul.
"Moreover... my flood cannot reach his 'divine kingdom'."
Poseidon was afraid.
After witnessing Ares's fate firsthand, he became afraid.
"waste!"
Seeing Poseidon cower in fear, Zeus was consumed by rage and kicked him to the ground.
"Even you're afraid? When did Olympus become so cowardly!"
He surveyed the hall, and none of the usually arrogant and haughty deities dared to meet his gaze.
They were all terrified by that Easterner.
The atmosphere inside the temple was extremely awkward.
Just then.
A voice, tinged with amusement and sarcasm, suddenly rang out at the palace entrance.
"Great King Zeus, it seems you've encountered some minor trouble?"
The gods turned around in astonishment.
A handsome man dressed in a high-end custom-made suit and wearing gold-rimmed glasses was seen leaning against a giant pillar at the palace gate, smiling at them.
Loki, the god of mischief.
"Loki!"
Zeus's anger finally found an outlet.
"You damned Asgardian bastard! How dare you show your face before me!"
"It was you! You deceived us! You led Ares into that trap!"
A bolt of lightning, as thick as a water vat, shot out from his hand and flew straight toward Loki!
Loki merely turned his body slightly to the side.
The lightning, powerful enough to flatten mountains, grazed his clothes and flew out of the hall, severing a distant mountain peak in two.
"Oh, Your Majesty, you still have such a fiery temper."
Loki calmly dusted off his collar, his face still sporting that smug smile.
"I didn't lie to you; I just gave you the information truthfully."
"It is your own arrogance that has turned what could have been a peaceful 'exchange' into a humiliating 'trial'."
"This is not my fault."
"You!" Zeus trembled with rage.
"Wait, Your Majesty the King of Gods." Loki raised his hand to stop him. "I didn't come here today to argue."
"I'm here to offer you a solution."
The smile on his face became mysterious and unpredictable.
"A perfect solution that can both restore your dignity and save your war god and warrior."
Zeus stopped moving.
He stared intently at Loki: "What are you plotting?"
"What scheme could I possibly have?" Loki spread his hands, looking completely innocent. "I'm just a peace-loving envoy."
"I just feel that we 'old gods' should unite when facing the rising 'new king,' shouldn't we?"
He strolled to the center of the temple, his gaze sweeping over each of the Olympian gods.
"That Easterner is very strong, there's no doubt about that."
"In his kingdom, we have no chance of winning."
"However, he is not without weaknesses."
Loki's voice was full of seduction.
"His weakness is that he's too much of a homebody."
"He seemed to prefer staying in that small courtyard and was indifferent to everything outside."
"This gave us an opportunity."
"We cannot defeat him on his home turf, but we can 'invite' him out of his divine kingdom."
A glint flashed in Athena's eyes: "You mean...?"
"That's right, wise goddess Athena." Loki snapped his fingers. "Since we can't go to his home turf, let's lure him to our home turf."
"Or, a neutral zone that doesn't belong to anyone."
"Once he leaves the protection of that courtyard and the boundaries of his divine kingdom, no matter how strong he is, he is ultimately just a person."
"And we are the entire pantheon!"
Loki's words caused all the gods present to fall into deep thought.
Even the anger in Zeus's eyes gradually subsided, turning into deep contemplation.
This plan... seems feasible?
"How do we 'invite' him out?" Zeus asked in a deep voice.
"It's simple," Loki laughed. "Use a bait he can't refuse."
"Doesn't he like collecting all sorts of strange and unusual Eastern trinkets? Like that glowing tea tree?"
"As far as I know, on the other side of the world, deep in the jungles of the Americas, lies another ancient being—the feathered serpent god, Kukulkan."
"And in his temple, there is an ancient divine object that originated from the same source as that tea tree."
Loki's lips curled into a devilish smile as he uttered the name, word by word.
"—A sapling of the tree of life."
"As long as we casually reveal this information to him."
Do you think he might be tempted?
