Chapter 1248 - 623: The Unlucky Company Executives
CK Group doesn’t just do entertainment; it’s also involved in real estate and the internet, and it’s dipped its toes more or less into any other industry that can make money.
This two hundred million deal this time is about a clothing design project.
CK Group is preparing to break into the European and American markets next spring, using designers under its own name. To enter Europe and the US, the first step is to cooperate with those big shopping malls over there. The partner they’ve picked this time is a major company that monopolizes a large chunk of the European and American economy.
On the international stage, CK Group can be considered a significant player, but the other company has grown even faster than CK, and naturally holds a much higher status internationally.
There was a reason why Lu Jingchen chose to cooperate with that company.
If this cooperation succeeds, CK Group’s status on the international stage will be raised by a whole level.
No one below said a word, and Lu Jingchen’s expression grew even darker. His mood had already been extremely unstable recently because Song Qiao was still in a coma, and now, their attitudes and their competence made him start to seriously question whether the people in these positions needed to be thoroughly cleaned out.
He picked up a file and flipped through it. After just a few glances, he couldn’t keep reading. He slammed the file onto the conference table and swept a gloomy look across the executives sitting below, his voice cold. "I’m giving you one hour. I don’t care what method you use or how you use your brains, give me a proposal that satisfies me. Otherwise, get ready to pack your things and go home to farm. I believe your hometowns suit you better."
One hour...
Normally it takes at least two days to come up with a proposal, and now Lu Jingchen was demanding they produce one in an hour—wasn’t this basically killing them?
Right away, one of the executives couldn’t sit still. He spoke up directly to Lu Jingchen, "President, it’s simply impossible to complete a proposal in one hour, let alone a perfect one... Isn’t this a bit too..."
But before he could finish, Lu Jingchen had already shot him a cold look, let out a short, mocking laugh, and said, "So what you mean is, none of you can do it? Then what use do I have for you? You really think no one in this world can get it done? There are plenty of people far more capable than you. I pay you high salaries not for you to idle around here. You should know, I, Lu Jingchen, have never raised deadweight..."
His voice was calm and flat, but everyone present could hear the fury in his tone.
That executive instantly fell silent, his old face turning alternately green and white.
Just then, the conference room door opened. Assistant Xue walked straight in toward Lu Jingchen, then quickly stepped up behind him and leaned down to murmur by his ear, "President, the hospital called. Madam has woken up..."
The moment Assistant Xue finished, the man who’d been sitting suddenly stood up, turned his head toward Assistant Xue, and blurted out in shock, "What did you say? Qiaoqiao woke up?"
Assistant Xue hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from Lu Jingchen. He froze for a second, then nodded. "Yes, President, Madam has woken up. The doctor said she just regained consciousness and is now undergoing a full-body examination... Hey, President..."
Before he could finish, Lu Jingchen was already striding toward the door.
But after taking two steps, he suddenly stopped. The gloom had gone from his face, and he looked much better—at least his expression wasn’t as dark as just moments before.
He swept a look around at the executives in the conference room and said lightly, "I’ll give you a day and a half. Before noon the day after tomorrow, hand the completed proposal to me. If the proposal isn’t up to standard, then get ready to pack your things and go back home to farm. Any questions?"
Everyone immediately shook their heads.
A day and a half... that was definitely better than one hour.
Once Lu Jingchen saw their reaction, he quickly headed for the door, his steps carrying a hint of urgency.
Assistant Xue had just gotten ready to follow behind his boss when an executive stepped up to block him, leaning in with a gossiping look. "Assistant Xue, the president reacted so strongly—did something happen?"
Assistant Xue glanced at that executive, then subconsciously looked at the other executives as well. As expected, they were all staring at him with gossip and curiosity written all over their faces.
He thought for a moment, then a smile appeared on his face. "The president’s wife woke up. Do you think that counts as something big?"
With that, he ignored the executives and walked out of the conference room, hurrying to catch up with his boss.
The executive left standing there didn’t react for a moment. After quite a while, he finally turned to look at his colleagues behind him and asked blankly, "What did Assistant Xue just say? Who woke up?"
One of the executives grinned, picked up his things, walked over, and patted him on the shoulder. "The president’s wife woke up. Which means... our hard days are over. From now on the president won’t be so moody. We’d better perform well; maybe if he’s in a good mood he’ll even give us a raise."
Humming a little tune, he walked off.
The whole office started buzzing with discussion, but most people were just secretly breathing a sigh of relief.
Ever since Song Qiao fell into a coma, they’d felt like dark clouds were hanging over their heads, living every day under their president’s oppressive aura. Now that the storm had finally passed, everyone was going to cherish these happy, peaceful days.
...
At the hospital, the doctor gave Song Qiao a full-body examination. All the results showed that her body had fully recovered, and there were no major issues.
Lu Jingchen rushed to the hospital as fast as he could. When he pushed open the ward door, he immediately saw Song Qiao sitting on the bed, staring blankly out the window in a daze. His footsteps instantly felt nailed to the ground; he couldn’t move at all.
Hearing the noise at the door, Song Qiao snapped back to her senses. She turned her head and saw Lu Jingchen standing there like an idiot, staring at her. Her heart suddenly bubbled over with happiness. A smile tugged at her lips as she called to him softly, "You’re here. Why are you just standing at the door? I want a hug..."
